SOAR
Overview
SOAR
is an online airline reservation and management system. It has
been designed for the small to medium size operator whose needs differ
from large airlines. Smaller operators usually have
limited staff numbers and often share tasks between staff and
themselves. They still want access to the same information as large
operators but have limited resources to operate a complex management
system. At the same time small operators are concerned with factors such
as weight loading on aircraft and the need for great flexibility in
operations. For example it is often necessary to add an extra plane to
a service to cater for a sudden demand or to replace a scheduled plane
with a larger one.
SOAR
allows operators to access their airline information from anywhere via
the Internet which allows them freedom to leave day to day operations to
staff whilst keeping a watching brief or even fully managing remotely.
SOAR
may be operated completely as a stand-alone system on a single PC or on
multiple PCs connected into a network. SOAR can also be run
completely over the Internet.
SOAR
is usually operated in conjunction with your own Website to allow
passengers to make online bookings from your site and to subsequently
pay online.
You also have complete
control over what you allow Travel Agents to do. You may allow them to
make bookings and receive a discounted price and subsequently bill them
using your existing accounting system. All of this is under your direct
control and all information can be changed at any time from anywhere worldwide.
SOAR
provides all the information and reports you need to run your business
on a day to day basis both as hardcopy and as screen displays. SOAR
can produce loading manifests, electronic or paper-based tickets,
boarding passes and revenue statements.
One of the key
features of SOAR is the Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
feature. SOAR automatically records full information about
passengers as soon as a passenger is booked. You can add further
information at check-in time for future use. You choose the most
appropriate information to collect.
This information
can then be used for targetting promotions. The CRM features allow you
to create your own mail-outs for email, fax or by post using standard
Microsoft Office tools such as Word. SOAR keeps a history of
your campaigns to allow you to assess how effective they have been.
Technical Requirements
If you are
operating completely over the Internet,
SOAR
requires only a browser to operate.
SOAR
has been developed using the Microsoft .NET framework. The application
uses the Microsoft MSDE or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or above as a local
database.
SOAR
will run on any Personal Computer (PC) running a version of Microsoft
Windows that supports the .NET framework.
The minimum
configuration recommended is a 533 Mhz Pentium 3 with 1 Gb. of free hard
disk storage and 256 Mb. of RAM. Screen displays may be from VGA
(800X600) or above.
SOAR
runs within a Web Browser. We recommend either Microsoft Explorer or
Netscape although alternative browsers are almost certainly suitable.

Above is a sample
display from SOAR showing a typical reservation dashboard.
